About
The Malaysian Health Technology Assessment Section (MaHTAS), Medical Development Division is the custodian of evidence and value-based medicine within the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
MaHTAS produces HTA-related reports through a rigorous, multidisciplinary and systematic evaluation of properties, effects and/or other impacts of health technologies or healthcare interventions, that are then being used to inform and guide the policy and decision making process of MOH Malaysia as well as for public consumption.
MaHTAS also coordinates the development and implementation of clinical practice guidelines through a systematic method and evidence-driven process, which ultimately serves the clinicians and healthcare providers with the goal of optimizing and improving the quality of patient care.
Additionally, MaHTAS also identifies new and emerging health technologies or healthcare interventions that will likely have a significant impact through its horizon scanning activities and disseminates relevant information to the relevant authorities providing an early awareness and alert system which are crucial to ensure an efficient, responsive and dynamic healthcare system.
